835761 2009-12-06 20:59:00 You may.

It says in a nice way,the way things are going, and have been for some time it would seem.

Yes, considering it was written 100 plus years ago it does give one room for thought doesn't it. :D

What’s more, it was written about an actual event. ;)

835762 2009-12-06 21:32:00 I agree, all of us are multiracial, or crossbreds if you like .

And the so called Maoris that are causing the problems are just the same, whether they like it, or lump it .

Did you know that years ago Peter Tapsell was asked in Parliament, (whilst “Minister of Internal Affairs” I think) “How many full blooded Maoris do we have in NZ?”

To which he replied that as far as he knew the last had died in about 1940 something .

So, I guess that means that those that purport to be Maoris are actually crossbreds, just like most of us .

Therefore, they should be treated just like most of us, because, there’s nothing special about them .

Tuff luck for them . :cryingI used to think that, but its not true allegedly .

835763 2009-12-06 23:09:00 I think the last maoriori died out in 1940s or where abouts. But there are some dark looking maoris around especially on East Coast and tuhoe they dont look to have too much European in them.
I wouldnt use the intermarriage argument then for them to toe the colonial line.

Tommy Solomon died in 1933.

And as for your east coast mates, I’ll bet if you told them there was a truck load of grog for those with honkey heritage they’d all be related to Queen Victoria.

835765 2009-12-07 02:09:00 Not my mates its only an observation. As long as they want a truck load of grog instead of a load of fire sticks and ammo I am happy , very happy so happy I could ****. prefect (6291)

Well I guess Tapsell could only go by what Births – Deaths & Marriages advised him.

Of course, it has to be acknowledged that the Maori Births Deaths & Marriage data base is not complete owing to events not being recorded at the time.

However, the lack of proof doesn’t mean you can make a choice about these things. ;)

I guess it’s a moot point anyway whether there are indeed one or two full blooded Maoris still around. :)
