2010-07-21 23:33:00 | Best free Anti everything is the CPU in the users head which should be trained. Best free Anti-everything (or almost everything) is Linux :D But seriously, Comodo. IF you know how to use it.

2010-07-22 04:06:00 | New bata version of MSSE is out now so there will be an update soon. MSSE or Avira-AntiVir for free virus scanning.ESet Nod34 for paid. Malwarebytes,Super Antispyware,Spybot. as on demand scanners. F-Secure blacklight rootkit scanner, on demand. Windows firewall is only OK, Comodo is better but needs more user actions.

2010-07-22 04:36:00 | whats wrong with AVG? Nothing , unless you do something silly or have teenage kids doing something silly. Not perfect but OK. I dont like the link scanner (I dont enable it). But honestly, even NOD32 is far from perfect, so its really hard to recommend it over a freebe + malwarebytes (I work for a NOD reseller & do see infected NOD PC's) If you live for Porn/warez/P2P, then no AV program will protect you. Unless you really now what youre doing expect a few PC 'issues' for scanning/removal only NOD32: poor spyware/malware detection KAV: doesnt seem as good at detection as a year ago.I stopped using it Avir: good, but too many false positives Norton, Mcafee, Trend: I really need no comment, we all know Malwarebytes: good but need a AV scanner as well SpywareDoctor (not the AV bundle): better detection rate than malwarebytes, but is a bit unstable & should be removed after clean up Hijack this: allways used(last) for the final cleanup Any All-in-one-AV-Firewall-coffemaker: often more trouble than its worth, especially on older PC's For Average Joe user" Win Firewall is good enough AND MORE RELIABLE than many 3rd party bundled firewalls. Some Viruses seem to have no real problems bypassing firewalls anyway.

Windows Firewall is probably the worst firewall ever. It's so reliable because it doesn't actually do very much. |

2010-07-22 12:24:00 | Depends on what version of windows you're using. On how good or bad the fw is. Could say the same for other firewalls (ZA, anything Nortons). Both are like a sieve. And sooner or later both will crash your system. At least you've got less chance of windows firewall crashing on you :p | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
