835198 2009-12-01 02:16:00 A couple of weeks back I was offered $12.50 as a temp courier driver, They started work at 4am,sorted out all the packages (they fired all the package sorters) and finished work at 6pm.

When I said I wouldn't work for that rate I was told, "This is Wanganui, You have no option".

Retards.

This was after the "interviewer" was half an hour late and I discovered the job was not in anyway related to the advert I responded to, and then, They tried to do a background check on me but were refusing to disclose the wages.

I pity the poor fool who they hired.

You are not supposed to say retards you will get in the **** like Paul Henry lol.

835199 2009-12-01 02:37:00 Its not an Ok pay rate for anyone, My 15 year old sister-in-law gets $14 an hour at Countdown....Don't ever go to HN, the salespeople start on minimum wage, the warehouse fare only slightly better Myth (110)
835200 2009-12-01 03:09:00 Pay might be low there but the work is hardly onerous more like goofing off as the yanks call it. prefect (6291)

835202 2009-12-01 03:54:00 If the application is any good it could be quite lucrative for the person plod (107)

They should, and If I were, I would, Although I'd take a truck driving job with bad pay over a courier job with bad pay.

835204 2009-12-01 04:23:00 Thats right, it is called 'building' a career. You have to start at the bottom and work your way up. With a job at Maccas, it is not a profession, its just a job.

It may have changed, but one of my mates started out at Maccas New Lynn, took advantage of their free management tuition, and then went on to manage a hotel.

I work at Maccas (after school) and they like to tell you that it is the start of a career in the food/hospitality industry.

Edit:Just read the_bogans post and thats exactly what I'm talking about. Jobs like McDonalds are good for learning teamwork and management skills. Also gives you an appreciation of money when you're on minimum wage lol.

McDonalds is THE worst. You start on minimum wage and stay on minimum wage basically untill you have done all the management courses.
