834736 2009-11-30 03:03:00 Kiwibiker is in no way affiliated with the protest or action as reported by the Herald, The members of KB'er were made aware of the action by way of the Herald interviewing someone involved and publishing it.

The response from KB'er members was generally in the negative, It then became apparent that a KB'er member was the person who was interviewed, But apart from him (and he's nobody) no one else knew anything about it.

834737 2009-11-30 03:35:00 Nah. Can't agree. First, there was never going to be a public announcement by the organisers because that would defeat the whole purpose of the protest. Info was generally just on their KiwiBiker website. Also check out their website and you'll see that the majority of their members were against this before the media even found out.

The genius who was trying to organise it went to the media before he had any support and claimed there would be 1000 bikes......

834738 2009-11-30 06:43:00 Not affiliated? Not endorsed perhaps but the whole thing was done on KiwiBiker. Judge the chronology for yourselves ...

Yeah. Bit of a dick for going to the media without having the support behind him. Still, at least he was passionate enough to do something.

834739 2009-11-30 07:51:00 The entire event was done outside of Kiwibiker, brought to light in an earlier thread after the article was run in the Herald, and details posted by a member of KB in the thread you posted.

KB was not the hub of the planned action anymore then a bike-shop would be if someone tacked the announcement on the shop noticeboard.

Anyhow, It was doomed to failure, and fail it did.

Oakie here. So this must be what it's like when you enter a parallel universe.

Obviously the debate was too big to be held on just one forum.
