| 1120903 | 2010-07-21 09:17:00 | After getting caught by a virus, that caused my PC to continually re-boot, I had a tech clean it and get it operating properly again. He removed several programs I had been using for ages: AVG9, Spybot, Adaware and Malwarebytes: and installed a trial version of Kasperky. Said this should pick up any traces that could appear. My question is this; What do any of the experts recommend to install? Looking at the signatures on this site, it seems that MSSE for an Antivirus, and Malwarebytes together with Spybot and Adaware, seems to be the way to go to cover most eventualities. I have a dual boot system, XP on one drive and Vista on the other. Whatever is decided on would go on both drives. Any assistance would be appreciated, I do not want to go through this saga again, and am getting really careful when opening any thing, for fear of another bug. I await your guidance. |

| 1120905 | 2010-07-21 09:28:00 | I'm on another forum and one of the things on it was ZA. It was the cause of the crash. I wouldnt use it. Yup, I would say MSSE, and malwarebytes. NOD32 if you want to pay for it. Dont put too many on the system (and run all of them at the same time). You're asking for probs. And if you're using P2P programs, get rid of them |

You might want to be aware that all of them are only as good as their last update so UPDATE every week at least and make sure you also scan weekly after the update as well. Kapersky is OK, I prefer NOD32 though and yes for free - MSSE. |
