This morning at 5.30 a woman was killed after being thrown from a car, which then rolled over her, at Mata, south of Whangarei. At 10.30, a 69-year-old man failed to take a corner on State Highway 12 near Tokatoka Rd in Ruawai. His vehicle slammed into a bank and died at the scene. A 25-year-old woman has today died in hospital after being injured in a crash in Kerikeri last Friday night. Northland's road toll now stands at 31. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ? What gives. |

So yes it is up. Northland always has a high figure. The next worst district was Matamata-Piako with 16 deaths, then Taupo with 15 deaths. The worst city was Manukau with 20 deaths, followed by Christchurch with 16 deaths. I wonder how many un warranted and unsafe cars there are in Northland ? Source: MOT. |
