An OK rate for a student job for someone looking for experience, and the fact is they can probably get that type of work done in India for about that figure. That 2025 task force is actually proposing reducing the minimum wage. |

| 835194 | 2009-12-01 01:21:00 | A couple of weeks back I was offered $12.50 as a temp courier driver, They started work at 4am,sorted out all the packages (they fired all the package sorters) and finished work at 6pm. When I said I wouldn't work for that rate I was told, "This is Wanganui, You have no option". Retards. This was after the "interviewer" was half an hour late and I discovered the job was not in anyway related to the advert I responded to, and then, They tried to do a background check on me but were refusing to disclose the wages. I pity the poor fool who they hired. |

| 835195 | 2009-12-01 01:31:00 | why bother building a career when you could work at maccas on the same wage they're offering. Ive only worked on minimum wage once when i was 15 and at school...never again | hueybot3000 (3646) | ||

If you read the ad, it also says profit share, and possibilities for further work, so that hourly rate is just the base rate. If they prove themselves, it could be an excellent opportunity. In the US, people work for free to get that experience, after they leave uni. With a supermarket job, it is not a career. You have to start at the bottom with a professional career. I have a 5 year professional degree, and when I first left uni I was only paid what worked out at $15 per hour. You just y have to start at the bottom to go up, there is no other choice. Same with starting a business. |

With a job at Maccas, it is not a profession, its just a job. |
