If they don't get your money on X day, then they get it the next day. Or the day after that. You will still need petrol, they will still sell their petrol, and you still pay your money.

Struggling to see any meaningful outcome.

Very true. Most of the cost is tax and it may not be too bad if the tax was used to pay for the roads but the tax goes into the consolidated fund and is used for all sorts of things. Only a small amount pays for the roads. And it's not just the present government. Both parties are to blame.

And I do agree, a petrol boycott is just a wasted effort. If they don't buy petrol today they'll buy it tomorrow.

1454105 2018-10-05 21:26:00 No doubt it's designed to 'make a point'.

I'm sure the intended recipients of this 'point' will give a sh1t ...

1454106 2018-10-05 21:45:00 I now drive a Toyota hybrid Prius plug in. I do use a lot less petrol these days. I have solar panels on my house roof which I use to recharge the car battery for free. Bobh (5192)
1454107 2018-10-05 21:48:00 Everyone stops buying petrol from say, Z, instead buying from the remaining ones as usual, after two or three weeks Z reduces prices in desperation to get customers, then everyone only buys from Z, soon the other suppliers have to reduce if they want buyers. QED. All it takes is the public working together, fat chance of that in NZ. zqwerty (97)
1454108 2018-10-05 21:58:00 If the average Joe was more militant and happy to hikoi then we'd solve a lot of the problems this country has. allblack (6574)
