Also why have they made sharing a printer on a network so hard. You have to go into your printer and "see what is printing"... nothing dur. Then then there is an option to share it. So you cannot do it by intuition, you have to look it up on Google. Why can't we just right click on the printer and have an option to share like we used to? |

Her major problem is: too much hassle selecting what to print, used to highlight the area to print on old printer and bang away it went. Now MS Word wants her to go far right to see what area the pages refer to and then go and select pages 6 & 7 on the other side of window. lurking. |

Errrrrrr You can, nothing has changed Open Control Panel -- (personal choice here) Change views top right to Large Icon. Open Devices and Printers - Right click the Printer, "Printer Properties" (NOT properties at the bottom) - Sharing Tab - Share= Done. On other Computers, depending on the Printer, you may have to install the software, then it locates the shared printer (Nothing new there) other wise when installing the printer, Devises and Printers - Add Printer - as long as it shows you have the option to import drivers from the host. Also pays to make sure all Computers are on the Same workgroup (Again nothing new there). This is for a USB connected Printer, a Ethernet connected is different. You also have to make sure printer /File sharing as well as network discovery is turned on in the network and sharing center/ Change Advanced sharing Settings. Quick Video -- Sorry for the looking and moving its happy hour :D streamable.com |
