Monthly rollups etc shouldnt take long. major build version updates can take quite a bit longer sometimes it seems just pot luck as to time taken. Not long ago I had 2 differnet brands laptops to setup. Both brand new out of the box. One did the updates quickly, the other took 4 hours :eek: I wasn't very happy when I discovered that most of what was installed is crap I am never going to use on it. If I am going to install Win10 on the new PC I really need to find out how I can take control of it. And yep, MS do send unwanted crap down, bundled with updates. MS dont want you to have control of updates . they are actively negating methods previously used to control 10 updates Most of these no long work (below) . Even turning off update service , it just gets turned back on . www.tenforums.com If you have win10 PRO you do have some options to defer some updates . |

Amount of time since last lot of updates. 4. Speed of computer (A low spec PC will take longer) Personally, if you want speed back on your Computer it takes a few seconds to turn off various items = less rubbish running in the background = faster. Heres a couple: From Start - Settings (Cog) - System- (on Left) Notifications & Actions - turn off all notifications. Settings - Privacy - Background Apps - Turn them all OFF. Appreciate your help. Internet speed is fast though the laptop was on wi-fi for the weekend update. It was the installation that was slow. The PC has dual core 1.65 GHz AMD E-450 processor with Radeon HD 6320 graphics and 4GB RAM. Not high spec but was perfectly sufficient for its purpose before installing Win10. The notifications were all off and I've now turned off all the background apps as advised which should have a positive effect. Will have a look at the video later. |

On my Windows 8.1 PC I can choose which updates to install but thats no longer an option in my Win10. I won't be needing the PRO version so will have to put up with it I guess. |
