With internet or power companies in areas, maybe they own the lines as well so you might not be able to choose the company that you want. For here. For me, film photography associated costs. Electronics have gotten better over time. Well ok, I might not be able to get a $3 hawker meal but then again their wages over there are a lot less. |

When people of all ethnicities travel around they are pretty much stick to their own things and most of it is shopping, eating and drinking. Stay in a decent, hotel, restaurants and malls and visit the top 3 tourist places. |

I've never understood our export saying we need to pay global market prices, they do not do this in other countries. It's not like someone will start buying large and exporting it as there's way too much red tape to do this and you shouldn't be able to buy local to sell export without having the original paper work follow the product. In most cases it is no longer suitable for exporting now. I guess the only thing I could see why is because we don't actually buy enough locally. Less than 3% of our meat goes locally while the rest is exported. I think maybe it because importers can easily undercut our market and push the price up more. |

Here, $2.50 at Countdown (now free), free at certain other NZ chemists and free at that new one here in Akld. Butchers, my lovely clean, tidy, friendly CHEAP butcher...and I find the cheapest place in hawkes Bay is the supermarket. Sigh. Although all meat is expensive in NZ. in general. Power, we the same power co, but my mum pays a higher rate in Hawkes Bay. Petrol - well we all know that. And numerous other things I keep finding as I go, oh where to get X in HB...and find it costs more. Grrrrr. |

| 1454774 | 2018-10-23 03:58:00 | Everything. Thats why I buy things on Alixpress. Even if takes 23-3 weeks to get here Glad I dont have to worry about petrol / cars or booze. If the landlord wants building material they can buy it Twenty three weeks! But seriously I am amazed at the low postage from Ali Express. Postage the other way is far dearer. |

| 1454775 | 2018-10-23 03:58:00 | Why else would our Prime Minister need to be the fourth highest paid leader? Because they made a govt dept who's ONLY function is to hand out pay increases for MP's (& Judges etc) Yes they get a pay increase every year, because if they didnt that dept would have nothing to do. |

But its a tricky one. Eg Petrol in Veneulea is just about free And its subsised by the government in lots of Arab countires. And its dearer than here in Norway and they are sitting on a sea of oil. Bu as regards our milk, cheese, butter and meat there is something wrong. The farmers say they don't want to sell it at a loss in New Zealand But to export it they have to pay extra shipping, meet export requirements. And then you have the supermarket markups - maybe ours are higher So you can never get to the bottom of it. |

| 1454777 | 2018-10-23 08:39:00 | I only know the meat side of things but by that time the farmers cows should have gotten them gain. So they do not see the value at their lifes end. Local prices aren't directly exporters fault, it's that its so low volume, we barely deal direct that the price hikes are normally the middleman (meat traders) who add their cut on top and do all the legwork. We could easily drop that market and wouldn't affect us but these middlemen have useful information on competitors, so it gives some idea on market direction. |
