1454161 2018-10-08 07:10:00 next election because National said it would remove the commie gas tax. By god are you really that gullible ?? Like hell they would, something has to pay for you jaffas in Auckland to get better motorways --Notice National didn't really do anything to improve things, even heard bridges say this morning on the breakfast program it would be petty to blame the Opposition for something they didn't do, YET over the last months that's all that weasel has done.

Whose going to be leading Nats into the next election -- Sure wont be that spineless idiot goofball Bridges, hes nothing but a puppet, you only have to listen to him to hear hes being told what to say.

Just found a comment relating to Simon Bridges in Stuff, says it perfectly:

The discussion is all a bit pointless, since we all know Simon Bridges is going to be replaced, and probably by a woman (Amy Adams or Judith Collins). So it will be two women leaders opposing each other.

Everyone is just treading water while we wait for the inevitable. Even Simon doesn't seem to be trying to keep his job, with daily target practice, aimed at his foot. It's painful to watch, and National would do themselves a favour by making the change sooner rather than later.

1454162 2018-10-08 08:06:00 Brent crude prices nearly to the same level as 2010/12. Whenu (9358)
1454163 2018-10-08 17:39:00 As long as the Brent Crude price rises and the US dollar climbs due to the Fed Rate expect more rises here

General consensus here we are going to see our Dollar falling to 62 Cents against the US by Christmas

1454164 2018-10-08 17:43:00 the petrol price rise is killing the poor

They're not poor.
The poor can't afford cars and associated costs.
Might need a better word to describe these people.

.

What am I then?
I'm not well off, not comfortably living.

What associated costs?

Rego $90 ish a year
WOF $40 a year.

Petrol, oil and tyres on occasion, it's not that expensive.

You have that correct. No government ever removes a tax that the other lot have imposed. National has a long history of pretty much making a noise about what Labour introduce when they rule and then just continuing along the same path when they get their turn.
Your comment on Bridges is spot on he does not actually appear to have a strong position on anything and comes across much the same as the last couple of male Labour leaders as rather ineffective.

1454167 2018-10-08 19:39:00 According to this site www.globalpetrolprices.com US petrol prices are still around half what we pay here so consider yourself fortunate.

Not really too interested in the political discussion this seems to have sparked except to say just how often has an incoming Government actually reversed an un popular change the previous Government made?

No idea - but poor live in ghettos surrounded by open sewers. I guess it depends how you interpret the word.

If you can afford to buy a car you aren't poor. You may need to make other sacrifices to afford and run the car, but you aren't poor.

broke isnt the same as poor. :)
Cant afford to live in NZ is becoming a more common thing , unfortunately. Its just one cost of living increase after another .

National upped petrol tax's more than once .
Labor arnt at the same level of Nat's petrol tax hikes, not yet anyway . So much for no new taxes .

The cost of fuels here in the US are based upon demand - and when the cold weather arrives, the cost goes up badly.

California starts it all with making the fuel plants to change over to a 'Winter Blend" that is a little easier to ignite when an engine is not wont to fire up in the morning. There seems to be a law that Molotov Cocktails are not allowed to ignite, and the fuel is actually fireproof for that reason.

The turn-around to get the petroleum plants back into full operation varies a bit, but it usually takes 3 or 4 weeks for the changeout. In the meantime, gasoline gets very scarce and the prices go up.

Heating oil - propane, kerosene, natural and LP gasses are always gonna go UP to satisfy the need to pay for hot-n-cold running secretaries in the Executive Suites. Choosing winter to raise the prices keeps protestors off the streets when they can actually freeze to death from exposure.

It's also harder to get an oil baron in your rifle crosshairs if you're shivering badly enough.

Still confused? PM me - I can help.
