1453901 2018-09-30 02:14:00 Daylight saving is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It should be permanent and then you wowsers wouldn't have need to complain! I suppose all your curtains will fade and all that rubbish!

The fading-curtains syndrome has been around for a number of years but it actually need not be as silly as it sounds. Consider a house-proud lady who is a creature of habit, living in a house with west-facing picture windows in her living room. She always draws her curtains at 5pm because that's what respectable people do. Along comes DST, but she sticks to her routine and continues to draw the curtains at 5pm. As a consequence, the drawn curtains get an extra hour of exposure to the afternoon summer sun and eventually fade faster than expected.

It really is the government's fault.

1453902 2018-09-30 02:49:00 How do you recalibrate a sundial?

That's quite simple. In some sundials, the centre dial is able to be removed and moved on an hour. They had an article on the TV the other night showing the dial being moved around.

1453903 2018-09-30 05:57:00 It's a shame there's nothing in existence, man-made or otherwise, that could dynamically change with the seasons, giving a gradual and unnoticeable change in the daylight hours, such that nobody would have to be driven mad by this infernally anachronistic garbage called "daylight saving"... Make the clocks run faster that might work.
