1452329 2018-08-05 22:25:00 What HD cloning software works for Dynamic Disks ? eg Win PC with a software raid (yes, yuk).
Only need to clone to a single new HD , could then later re-build the raid with a 2nd new HD (or break the raid).

Any freeware programs that will do this ? Or even a time limited demo (for a 1 off clone )
Looks like the home user type of Cloning software wont work.

1452330 2018-08-05 22:33:00 Aomei partition assistant has become my go to tool after Acronis and Active@ both let me down trying to make a bootable clone of a windows disk to SSD (that was a while back and I'm sure they work but they are not free)
www.disk-partition.com I'm not sure if it'll do what you want, but it's free so you could try and see.

I see they also have a tool for managing dynamic disks

1452331 2018-08-05 22:48:00 I need something that will work/run via a bootable CDROM.
If win is running/working then windows built in imaging backup works (from memory, was a while back that I tested that)

Neither Active@ nor Acronos(free version) bootable CDs did the job.
I know there is software that claims to work, but seems to be mainly payware versions.
And nowadays, too may so called 'free versions' are so crippled/limited that they are near worthless . ie most of the functionality needs to be paid for in free versions .

1452332 2018-08-05 23:29:00 Well I've cloned the OS and done images and altered partitions from the bootable disk the Aomei software creates but I have never tried cloning a dynamic disk so I can't tell you if that specific function will work.
It does have several options for bootable media that are a bit confusing but I just picked the default one. You do need to install it on a windows pc to be able to create the boot disk from within windows though.

Even when you run it from in windows it reboots and does the cloning before windows boots up when you clone the system drive though and that seems to work fine so it's what I usually do just because it's easier.

1452333 2018-08-06 00:25:00 Sector by sector clone should work, I guess. ?
Its just so painfully slow , its an option of last resort.

Both Aomei & Active@ support that . May need to do some testing .

1452334 2018-08-06 02:52:00 Minitool is also free and pretty handy. I prefer it to AOMEI these days. wratterus (105)
1452335 2018-08-06 21:04:00 Minitool is also free and pretty handy. I prefer it to AOMEI these days.

I used that to clone to an SSD when others wouldn't.(Minitool)
