1452051 2018-07-27 00:49:00 Through trying to relocate one of the game files on my gaming system I now have a folder that I cant delete, rename or move.
It's a empty folder. The name on it is the same as the system user name.
If I try to do anything with it, I get:

"Could not find the item. This is no longer located in ----- verify the items location & try again"

It's not on the system drive.
It's on a separate drive containing only the Steam Library.

It's the same if I try in safe mode.
If I boot from a Linux CD I can access the drive & delete it from there.
But back in windows it is still there inside a another folder called Trash-999

It's not causing any problems, just annoys me when I see it there.

Try Unlocker. Generally works a charm for things like this.

1452053 2018-07-27 02:42:00 It may be a symbolic link ? or have a file thats a symbolic link inside it.

Also , could be something recreating it when win starts , if Lin deletes it & its still there in win.
Also do a chkdsk /f from cmd (run as admin)

Thank you wratterus

1452055 2018-07-27 04:19:00 Folders do weird things. I have Mint, and Windows 7 dual booted on my work computer. I access a common data partition from both systems. If I delete a file with Mint, and then go to Windows the file is still there, but no longer shows in Mint. Also, if I save a file with Mint it does not show in Windows, but if I save it with Windows it will show in Mint. Must be something to do do with permissions. The data partition is NTF, maybe if I formatted it Fat32 it might work? I have had files with = in the name that refuse to delete as well. mzee (3324)
