1122261 2010-07-25 06:28:00 The latest copy of PC World has a $10K PC with three 24" monitors.
What would you need three for?

1122262 2010-07-25 06:33:00 If you are going to spend 10K on a PC, of course you should have 3x 24" monitors! A single monitor would not do it justice. Jen (38)
1122263 2010-07-25 06:41:00 10K is a bit of a rip if that is the main selling point, you can get 3 24" monitors for under a grand, I built my beast for under 6K with 3 24" monitors, an i7 @ 4.2Ghz and a 5870 vid card. Deimos (5715)

1122266 2010-07-25 07:23:00 Flight Sim X! :D

No seriously, I play DotA regularly and having an additional (though somewhat smaller) secondary monitor really comes in handy for when I'm expecting things such as somebody to message me on MSN, Facebook, whatever. I check them then, in between deaths in-game.

PBTech have some crazy deals on LED monitors at the moment:

Three monitors would allow you to have multiple workspaces. As Chill has pointed out, it means that one monitor can be dedicated to games, while the otherx can be dedicated to e-mail / instant messaging checking.

1122269 2010-07-25 21:23:00 In the work sector, 3 screens for spreading excel across. We use 3 screens in one of our office setups for excel.

Have seen several screens hooked up together in another work place with various applications open and spread across the screens.

In the private sector, gaming such as Flight Sim and other games could benefit from 2 or 3 screens wrapped around. Or anyone involved in Ham Radio, etc, have seen in the USA a setup at a Ham Station that involved multi screens.

1122270 2010-07-25 21:31:00 Game on one screen
Calculation sheets for game on another screen
Website, email, msn on another screen.

You can never have too much screenestate.
