1122095 2010-07-24 23:19:00 When building a new computer from scratch, do you install the CPU + heatsink first before installing the MB onto the case or the other way round? bk T (215)
1122096 2010-07-24 23:27:00 It's better / easier to install the CPU before you install the mobo in the case Speedy Gonzales (78)
1122097 2010-07-24 23:30:00 I'm with Speedy. More room to move.. GR8Metal (14133)
1122098 2010-07-24 23:37:00 And it'll be harder trying to install a CPU into an MATX case. You've got a lot less space than an ATX case (if the case is MATX that is) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1122099 2010-07-24 23:51:00 I install CPU, Heatsink and RAM before inserting into the case. Snorkbox (15764)

1122101 2010-07-25 02:56:00 Yes.
Have had to swap a CPU out in a already built system and you can, but it's easier to do it first.

And The HSF makes a kind of handy handle for picking the board up and positioning it.

I thought that was my idea!

I install the CPU and RAM first so as not to bend the board much.
