1121985 2010-07-24 11:58:00 Just downloaded the user Manual for Gigabyte P55A-UD3R MB and had a quick browse through it. Found that there is only one common PS/2 port for Keyboard and PS/2 Mouse, which means it can only be used with either a keyboard or a mouse. The other (KB or mouse) has to be connected to a USB port.

Is this a norm for socket 1156 board or it's only for this particular M'B?

1121986 2010-07-24 12:04:00 Probably ran out of space on the back. Altho, I doubt many people use PS/2 now anyway Speedy Gonzales (78)
1121987 2010-07-24 12:40:00 Most if not all today's keyboards and mice are USB now. My last PS/2 peripheral was an ancient keyboard some six years ago! qazwsxokmijn (102)
1121988 2010-07-24 12:54:00 I have spare PS/2 Keyboards and Meeses so I can fix older PCs.

Normally I just use my USB effort.

1121989 2010-07-24 14:31:00 Yeah pretty much normal now, a few manufacturers tried to ditch the legacy connections, and you can find some "enthusiast" boards that don't have it, but now it is more common to have the one.
TBH I would prefer if it stayed like this rather than ditching it all together as I have an arcade stick that plugs in to PS2, I could buy a USB adapter but I would have to order it from abroad since the retailer I bought it from went under :(

Doesn't it come handy when you wish to flash the BIOS?
bk T (215)
1121992 2010-07-24 22:05:00 For some mobos yup. But most ASUS mobos now, you can flash a BIOS within the BIOS. With a USB flash drive. The next thing to go, will be IDE connectors on mobos. For more recent mobos now, there's only 1 IDE connector Speedy Gonzales (78)
1121993 2010-07-25 05:39:00 and then pci will eventually be reduced to a single slot at most on a few boards here and there. Mirddes (10)
