| 1121789 | 2010-07-23 22:55:00 | I see I have 61 processes going CPU usage is at 17% to 54% and physical memory of 57% What does that mean and is it normal? Thanks chaps. |

| 1121790 | 2010-07-23 23:01:00 | Yup its normal. You can have more than 61 processes, depending on what you've installed and whats running. Obviously, the more programs that are running, the more memory it'll use | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 1121791 | 2010-07-23 23:03:00 | I have always been puzzled by this, so I hope someone can unravel it. I have 46 processes going on, 2% CPU usage, less than 50% Physical memory in use. I note that amongst the processes are quite a few that have the same name - svchost.exe, and I have never been sure why there is more than one. Duh - shows how much I know. |

| 1121794 | 2010-07-23 23:13:00 | I once had high PF usage when browsing - up to 1 GB, causing widows XP displaying system memory warnings. I traced it to saving my hosts file as a notepad file, rather than without an extension - I think it was that. Now PF displays around 224 to 370. TechRepublic (articles.techrepublic.com.com) have a good tutorial with graphs on understanding Task Manager functions. |
