| 836831 | 2009-12-06 04:15:00 | I now have a Sony PlayTV which I purchased from UK last week. Took 6 days from order to arrival from the Channel Islands by post and cost $148. Review here... whirlpool.net.au Brilliant..... Upgrade v1.21 makes everything work except the EPG which has yet to be sorted out for NZ use. It has listings of 3 or 4 hours ahead but you can also just use it like a Video recorder and program ahead. I already had a PS3 with a 320GB HDD which had all my old HD videos, photos and music, so took most of it off and have 170GB spare for recording. If you have a PS3, it is a cheap way to get into a PVR. Next update, hopefully will make it fully NZ compatible. Sony are working with Freeview to sort out the EPG problem - they say. It seems to me that the data isn't accessable even to the decoder itself. Even TiVo went the long way round and made their own EPG. If it wern't for MHEG5 PlayTV would already be on sale here. |

It is ridiculous that TVNZ, as part of Freeview, sees it fit to insist everyone uses the Freeview branded EPG and then through Hybrid sells a box (Tivo) that doesn't use the EPG that they force everyone else to use... |

They are the Tivo partner, not TVNZ. Ken  |
