836379 2009-12-04 05:16:00 I use a Desktop. I don't play games at all. Because it is cheaper, easy to upgrade, easier to type and edit photo's.

I have a lappie since uni that is my 2nd PC or now is bro's cos I blew up the motherboard which when he wants I will kit him up a new PC for free - with budget parts as prior it was just a AMD Sempron, onboard graphics and 512MB.

Thought about a Netbook but I only travel for a week at a time so prefer to pay a $1 or $2 at the hostel for internet each 3 or 4 days. I hav tried using it off my Nokia wifi but it isn't the same but doable. Reply a few emails each few days etc and Skype on it.

I don't really need a laptop for every day, on the bus, at the lounge. I could quite happily go overseas for a week with no internet or email. Just use a phone card to call home. I find when I am away, I don't use the net so much and I have so much more spare time.

836385 2009-12-04 07:17:00 Desktops - I say desktops, because it can be one of 5 or 6 different PC's.

The Mrs has been hammering my laptop since she buggered her leg a while back and cant sit comfortably at her desktop, only in the Lazyboy.

836386 2009-12-05 06:35:00 SWMBO and I use a laptop (17") for everyday use - it's less obtrusive in the lounge. Our PC is downstairs.
Use a Microsoft wireless mouse for the laptop. Seldom move the laptop to use anywhere else - but when we have it has been very useful.

836387 2009-12-05 07:22:00 Laptop is stashed under a chair in the lounge, never use it unless Mrs Metla is using the desktop. The 22'lcd, wireless KB and mouse, comfortable chair and damn fine set of speakers just blows away using a crappy little laptop.

All that extra grunt under the hood comes in handy as well.
