| 836256 | 2009-12-04 02:01:00 | It may have been heat treated or ultra heat treated to kill all the bacteria and fungi. Once opened, they can enter and the food spoils as normal. I think some manufacturers put an expiry date on food 'cos people expect one, not because it suddenly goes off. Even some canned food has an expiry date even though it should still be safe to eat. It may lose flavour or texture but it shouldn't suddenly go off after the expiry date - a best before date would be better. | user (1404) | ||

Once it's opened, the radiation leaks out and then the stuff goes bad . Where the U235 leaks TO - is anybody's guess, but you should be able to read by your own night light if you consume enough of that product . This may also be true of "natural" foods, as they are rife to state that they are organic and natural . So are vomit and feces - but I digress . |
