| 837351 | 2009-12-09 18:42:00 | However, diversity of opinion is a wondrous pageant to behold, so whatever keeps you warm at night.......... I agree totally. Read the start of my piece Billy - I said it was a quip. Feel free to take it any way you wish. LOL. Suffice to say that I do not generally comment on any of the anti-religious threads, neither do I present my views as facts for the rest to believe as "one and only". Leave me alone in my own little world and my own opinion and I'll do the same to you - in any case, most of the views in this thread are quite strong and I do not think any argument by anybody will change their minds? sarel |

To exercise belief in; to credit upon the authority or testimony of another; to be persuaded of the truth of, upon evidence furnished by reasons, arguments, and deductions of the mind, or by circumstances other than personal knowledge; to regard or accept as true; to place confidence in; to think; to consider; as, to believe a person, a statement, or a doctrine. |

It will be interesting to see how Terry uses that as an opening for some old time music..... |

| 837358 | 2009-12-09 21:29:00 | Everybody has to believe in something. I believe I'll have a beer. I do, I do...I believe in Lucas.....I believe Bix Beiderbeck lives.... An obituary in a 1931 local Davenport newspaper said that "Bixie will be forgotten as quickly as the popular dance music he played" Jazz critic Otis Fergusson in the 1930s said " They buried the body, but his music cannot die, Bix will never be forgotten as long as there is a record of his left in the world, and a turntable to play it on" Louis Armstrong said "They all wanna sound like him, but there 'aint none of 'em play like him yet". So there we are I believe in Bix Beiderbecke, and the proof is in the music ..he is my god...... And the hymn for today in praise of the almighty is Singin' The Blues (www.youtube.com) |
