1121770 2010-07-28 14:57:00 quick update....went out for a few hours...come back took the ram i added out and booted up the pc "cold" and no blue screen of death....is it safe to say its an issue with the ram? bigamzz (15898)
1121771 2010-07-28 23:15:00 The ram maybe the prob, if it didn't crash. Sounds like an ACPI prob if it said it needs a BIOS update. Or a sleep / hibernate prob.

Was the computer still running, when you came back?? Or did you turn it off before you left, then turn it back on when you came back?

1121773 2010-07-30 12:07:00 bump.....3 days since taking the ram in question out of my pc and not one blue screen of death....altough the outdated bios thing has left me concerened...does anybody know how to update??? bigamzz (15898)
1121774 2010-07-30 15:16:00 Windows saying to check for a BIOS update on a BSOD error message doesn't mean there actually is anything wrong with your BIOS. It's just a standard message that is displayed on any BSOD error which *could* be caused by a buggy BIOS (quite a lot of them)

You could try to look for an upgrade, but it probably won't do anything. Keep the PC running for a few more days and see if you get any BSOD error without the extra RAM.

If not, then that new RAM was probably faulty or causing some incompatibility issue (which yes, may be fixable with a BIOS update)

Do you know what model your motherboard is? (Or PC model, if it's brand name such as Dell\HP\IBM) and what model of RAM you have? Knowing this may allow us to figure out if there are any obvious problems with your configuration.
