There is Asian food on the first floor of the SkyTower, cannot remember the cost, not a big range of deserts but the food itself was more than ok though that was lunch time as well. There is a small selection of buffet asian food that you help yourself to while staff wheel around a food trolley of various other asian food such as dumplings, etc that you indicate to and they place that plate/container of stuff onto the table. |

(could be Great Western, not sure) there is a McDonalds on that corner with Countdown etc. Classic Bakehouse. (maps.google.co.nz) It's on the corner or Great South and Greenlane East I think. They do various bits of Asian style bread. In addition, if you have no issue's with being in the SkyTower complex. Ate there a couple of times in the last couple of months care of business. Ming Court is the name of the place |

Those prawn balls are great, cheap and big. I got no complains from my patriotic father :D Free range chicken and fresh blue cod. They have the foreign tv channels so they went to this place, New Trend on Dominion Rd, not good at all, a fraction cheaper only and when we paid they heated up roast pork (belly crackling) in the microwave :p Got some stuff from Tai Ping supermarkets on Beach Rd, near there is China Yum Char - that was bad, again they had no leads wasn't going to listen to me until they had 2x bad experiences. Thanks Bob. |

I had an inkling that Welfare would be closed, didn't realise that Canton Cafe would be too. You did ring ahead right? If you do get a chance, try Welfare Noodle Bar. Their roast meats are some of the best around. |

| 836796 | 2009-12-29 20:34:00 | Yeah we rang ahead. Didn't had to book thou for yum char we arrived 26 Dec night so we ate out on 27 onwards, well New Trend was on the 26 night, surprise to see that so many people and even queue for a table for a crap place, maybe it was 26 Dec and maybe because it was closer and less fussy eaters. Nah it was called "China Yum Char" - 2 Beach Road at the corner. The entrance is like a western brown wooden patio fence entrance. Run by Taiwanese maybe. It is the one open to night time even for Yum Char. Pretty much next door to a Love a Duck branch. On the main road Beach Road - it is all red color the window is not transparent (you cannot look via it). |

Now I know map reading can create world wars :D It works for 1 min and gets you the directions but then it loses the reception so it cannot track you, you need to look at the map manually and let the driver when to turn etc... Sometimes it would also recalculate the position unneedlessly and if you are on SH1 it thinks you are on a side road instead and says please turn left onto SH1..... |

Where are you mounting your GPS in your car? It needs to have clear line-of-sight to the sky (glass is ok). If it's being blocked by something like the roof of the car, you'll notice its accuracy and performance will be shocking. |

| 836799 | 2009-12-29 22:02:00 | Yeh, always mounted on windscreen holder. While I was on SH1, the speedometre on the Navman would suddenly go --. A moment a screen pops up saying no GPS signal. You can take it out of the car and go outside like a reserve park. It gets a reception, establishes you position and determine a route for you then a 1 min later it says no reception. You could drive down a SH, and it may recalculate, if you are on SH1 it thinks you are on a side road. After the first day up drive it just stopped working other than turning on and off and let it establish you for a 1min before going off. It only came on, on the last day drive home. Then it went wonky recalculating itself ..... |
