1122396 2010-07-27 01:14:00 I was refering to the fact that you would be dividing it by 8.

last time i checked when converting bits to bytes you devide by 8.
1024/8=128.

Stop clouding the issue with facts! :xmouth:

1122397 2010-07-27 01:17:00 Besides, the rated speed for Gigabit Ethernet is 1000Mbit, not 1024Mbit :D pablo d (15490)

Touche, although technically it wouldn't exactly be pc lol

EDIT: well technically the rated speed is 1 Gbps not 1000Mbps :P

Hi,
I'd like to add wireless to our Desktop running windows 7.
I have a Linksys wireless G that we use for our notebook wirelessly.
3 Questions:

Is going wireless, worse for online shooter games?

Are the usb type adaptors not as good as an internal card type?

Is speed important, such as a 54MPS, or is there better technology than say this one...
D-Link DWA-510, Wireless Adapter, 54Mbps, 802.11b/g, PCI (ascent.co.nz)

Appreciated!

It will be slightly worse for gaming, probably not noticable though.
DO NOT get a usb type adapter, they are terribad.
Speed is unimportant however you are going to want a card that will connect using the 802.11b/g mixed standard.

Sorry for hijacking your post :(

1122401 2010-07-27 01:35:00 Also if you're going to install this yourself, make sure you buy it brand new. and that if you do get it 2nd hand it has the driver cd with it, it's always a pain to have to find drivers for HW.

Only touch the metal plating, not the card itself.
Where an anti static strap if possible, or ground yourself, either or.

Only saying this as I don't know what level of competency you have when it comes to computers :)
