Most of these programs do not "record" in the traditional sense, but grab whats coming off the aerial and dump it to disk. GBPVR will record to .ts files which are transport stream files. But it's essentially the same as the wtv stuff but in a less proprietary container format. The data is still the same, and not the .mpg (which assumes mpeg2 format) that you're after. Inside the container, irrespective of what records it (gbpvr, media portal or w7) it will still be h.264 video with he-aac-lc sound. To get native mpeg2 recording you need to look at recording off satellite....but it's probably pretty similar money to upgrade your video card to an HD decoding capable card - an nvidia 8500 gt+ or 9400gt and above. ATI ones I'm unsure about. |

Thats what I was afraid off :( :waughh:, I think I will be going back to the trusty old VCR in till I get the money to upgrade my computer in 2 - 5 years time (I just upgraded my computer 4 years ago!) And as far as I am aware of their is no programs that can edit * . TS or * . wtv The data is still the same, and not the . mpg (which assumes mpeg2 format) that you're after . Any mpeg format, as I know one program that we use to use under Win XP before we upgrade to Win 7 use to recorded freeview in mpeg3 or 4 I think, as it was HD . To get native mpeg2 recording you need to look at recording off satellite . . . . Just need to wait for dad to put our dish up . :stare: :waughh: but it's probably pretty similar money to upgrade your video card to an HD decoding capable card - an nvidia 8500 gt+ or 9400gt and above .
