2010-07-24 15:26:00 | Looking to buy a budget rack mount NAS (1-2U) that's less then 12" in depth. In this size range I'm guessing I'm limited to a 4 drive NAS. I don't need many features or amazing speeds. although it will be used in an office so it has to be reasonably quiet.

2010-07-25 03:54:00 | You could custom-build yourself with the likes of an Atom D510MO really cheap! Just add HDD's and you're away! How much storage space are you after?

2010-07-25 08:57:00 | Building my own is defiantly an option, I will just need to find a suitable case and RAIDcontroller. Looking at using 4x 1.5-2TB HDD's in RAID5

2010-07-25 12:05:00 | That could work, any D510 mini ITX boards with 4 or more sata ports you could recommend? | pantera989 (14533) | |
2010-07-25 20:51:00 | The aforementioned D510MO works wonders, but only has two. I've also played with several other atom-based motherboards, the likes of the D945GCLF / D945GCLF2, Foxconn's 45CS ... All two SATA ports. | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2010-07-30 16:18:00 | Found this Atom D510 based motherboard from gigabyte (Gigabyte GA-D510UD) that has 4 Sata ports for around $185 Zotex also has a mini-DTX board based on the D510 that has 6 sata, 16x and 1x PCI-e slots, although I can't find it in New Zealand and costs over $300
