| 1121820 | 2010-07-23 22:56:00 | Hi. After 5 years and two genuine toner cartridges, this printer prints OK, but leaves toner evenly all over the page. Print is still readable, but page looks grey (to the extent that my son was tackled by his tutor for submitting a 'photocopied' assignment (but it was the original)). Manual, online help checked to no avail. Printer cleaned. Just tossing up whether to persevere (particularly if there's a simple remedy), or purchase a replacement. Any remedial advice will be helpful. Cheers. | A Team (13613) | ||

| 1121823 | 2010-07-24 00:20:00 | Is this the problem (welcome.solutions.brother.com) -- If so, and the Toner is OK, then the drum may be at its end of life. You would be better off buying a new printer as previously mentioned above. I had a similar problem years ago with a Brother 1230, in the end the price of a new drum unit was more expensive than a whole new printer. |

According to the specs the drum should be good for a while yet, but they are more expensive than a new printer! In this day and age, 5 years aint bad, I guess. Thanks. | A Team (13613) | ||
| 1121825 | 2010-07-24 02:40:00 | Check out your local Hardly Normal. I bought a new 1430 drum there recently for $25.. Usually when I've had this problem it's been the toner cart, but a new printer may be a better option before you spend too much money.. | paulw (1826) | ||
