1122834 2010-07-27 07:30:00 Ex-customer having issues with FF closing and saying an Error Occurred.
She uninstalled it and downloaded the latest 3.6.8.
She also updated Flash to 10.1.

It happens on Facebook games and other flash based sites.
She'd already run CCleaner, and all her anti-malware just in case.
IE seems to be OK.
Any ideas?

1122835 2010-07-27 07:37:00 Flash 10.1 seems to have caused a lot of problems in FF. The flash plugin container crashes.

Edit: I haven't found a fix yet and switched to Chrome for Flash.

1122837 2010-07-27 07:44:00 Thats a common prob, with the FB site. There's more than 1 person who's FF crashes, when people play the games on it. So, it wont be her computer, it'll be the site / FF Speedy Gonzales (78)
1122838 2010-07-27 08:51:00 She gets it on other flash sites too, she was OK with some Java game site last night, and Google is fine and even the download sites for flash - at least until she tried to download it.

I have FF 3.6.0 and Flash 10.0.32.18 and it seems oK although I don't do Facebook. Other flash sites are OK though, maybe she needs to go back a version or two.

1122839 2010-07-27 10:51:00 The update of FF to 3.6 and the update of flash to 10.1 caused some instability issues. I gather that it's the flash plugin at fault.

Firefox 3.6 made flash run as a standalone process so that flash crashing wouldn't crash the browser. The plugin is called plugin container.exe in task manager.

A few days later FF 3.6 was updated to 3.6.6 to change the timeout for flash apps - specifically after complaints from Facebook Farmville users running older rigs - but it didn't solve the flash crash of the plugin container.

For me, the crash is most prevalent when using youtube.
