838767 2009-12-11 03:48:00 Well I transfered 10,000 overseas from an online account and it got rejected.
Why?
Because I can only transfer 9975 + 25 (fee) to reach the limit.
Thus the limit for overseas transfers is not 10,000 it is 9975.
Then...
I try to pay an online bill...
Rejected, exceeded daily transaction limit, ok I understand.
Then...
I try to use my credit card at the AA website, only 40. REJECTED...
Huh? Message was credit card limit has been exceeded.
Not true I still have a large credit limit available for use.
So I phone 0800anzisdumb (you get the idea).
Explain, oh not sure why rejected.
I prompt, maybe because I have sent 10000.00 overseas (opps 9975 I lied).
Oh yes that would stop it.
I moan along the lines of...
Bank has a limit for online transactions for my bank account so why is my credit card limited too?
Oh just the way it is.
Moan again... not happy with this explanation, but give up when she assures me that it will be reset so I can use it again tomorrow to pay 40.
I ask can I use my card tonite out at the pub/club/etc... she says "Probably Not".
Never knew they had such narrow limits that applied over the board like this.
I know its very rare, but well I will be there on Monday to get the limits removed as it can only be changed in the branch.

838768 2009-12-11 03:52:00 The limit probably applies to every branch. I doubt ANZ will remove it just for you. And keep it in place, for everyone else Speedy Gonzales (78)

I am currently in a dispute with the National Bank/ANZ over an online banking transaction that they didn't process on the day I actioned it. They acknowledge the problem but have provided me with no explanation, apology or interest for the lost day. Could be why they are ranked below other banks.

Isn't the phone banking system, just an interface for the online system. I would expect the same restrictions would apply.

838772 2009-12-11 05:12:00 I meant if you wanted to pay a bill or something. The limit zcc is talking about probably will apply, whether you go to the bank / use online or phone banking. Speedy Gonzales (78)
838773 2009-12-11 06:12:00 A $10000 bill? Thatd suck. I think the only way to transfer larger amounts is get an appointment at the bank and do it with a bank rep hueybot3000 (3646)
838774 2009-12-11 10:56:00 There are limits in place (at all banks) to help to limit fraud and money laundering, as well accidental incorrect key presses by customers in a hurry. It is possible to get higher limits applied if you have regular large amounts to move (such as tax payments), but the limits are in place to protect both the bank and their customer (you). If you have a one-off transfer, go into the bank and do it in person, just as hueybot3000 suggests. johcar (6283)

Were you transferring to Westpac? They had a big technical "glitch" recently.
