2009-12-08 01:07:00 | I've been asked by our Librarian at work to help her out, removing the region coding (coded for US) from a medical DVD. I've tried all the normal rippers like DVD Shrink, etc. but it throws up the regional warning quite quickly (and it seems quite strong) and then complains about .IFO files. As you can see this is a righteous query - any other suggestions for rippers that may work, preferably free? I can't use Slysoft's CloneDVD because I can't get the traces of it off my PC and it says the 3 week trial has expired. I would have thought Slysoft would have done it. Googling it shows a lot like DVD43, DVD Decrypter, DVDFab, AVS Video Converter, Burn DVDs, but some of the above probably work better than others? Any ideas? Thanks in any case sarel

2009-12-08 02:10:00 | dvd43 (http://www.dvd43.com/) should unlock it - then just copy as normal | bevy121 (117) | |
2009-12-08 02:32:00 | I prefer DVD Decrypter, always worked for me. However since it is no longer in development, it might fail to copy very recent DVDs if there was any change to protection. Best way to try it and see! (get it from mrbass.org)

2009-12-08 18:33:00 | Used DVD43 last night, and it did the conversion on the fly (or so I thought). This morning when I checked the burned DVD, it still had the frickin regional coding on it. !@#$%^&*. Wasted a good frickin lightscribe DVD. Will try DVDFab AND DVD Decryptor tonight. Btw, should any such conversion be copied to DVD + or DVD - ? (Does it matter?) The only lightscribe DVD's available are DVD +. Funny thing though - when I checked the converted file on my PC it played without the regional coding, quite OK. It's logical that the copying from HD to DVD should copy precisely what's in the folder. Didn't happen. Bummer. sarel

2009-12-08 20:44:00 | Chill, as I said in my initial post DVD Shrink did not want to do it. I will try the other suggestions tonight though. My problem is probably that I do not rip DVD's that often - I copy all my music DVD's so that if anybody breaks into my car, they steal a copy but DVD's I don't copy that much. I found CloneDVD quite good when I wanted to copy a DVD (I had to re-regionalise an Andre Rieu DVD) a few months back but I do not do ripping, so to buy one like CloneDVD would be a bit of a waste of money for me. sarel

2009-12-08 22:12:00 | Just use DVD Decrypter. It's the best one out there | Agent_24 (57) | |
