So has the O/P got SATA ports on the current motherboard?

1122791 2010-07-30 01:25:00 Agent_24, I think you forget that this is an IDE machine. hence the high prices and low storage capacity

1122794 2010-07-30 04:21:00 So get this then.

www.seagate.com

I downloaded Sea Tools for Windows and ran it on the hard drive. It has five tests in all and the hard drive passed all tests. I'm supposing that means that there is no fault with the hard drive?

Thanks to all for all the other suggestions. All very welcome.:thanks

Not always. Seatools pretty much only tells you the drive is failing when there are flames coming out the back of it.

I would download and run HDAT2 (http://www.hdat2.com/) and check the SMART status of the drive.
