1122673 2010-07-26 22:52:00 Hi guys, the free d-link 502 router is showing its true colours and is a hit and miss afair when making changes, half the time screwing up settings and not connecting. I run a couple of VPN connections through it for partner remote access so need to fix this.
So, we need a quality consumer class router to replace the 502. It connects up to a switch so gigabyte not required. Doesnt need wireless, and not interested in running anything other than the original code on the unit for support purposes.

suggestions?, I like the netcomm units, anything else?

1122674 2010-07-26 23:02:00 Anyone with experience of the Linksys AG300, supports up to 5 VPN's and has a SPI firewall! Ascent has a clearance on them! SolMiester (139)
1122675 2010-07-26 23:22:00 No idea, but I love my Dynalink RTA1320, it connects the fastest and has the best web interface in my opinion (not including OpenWRT etc) Agent_24 (57)

Thanks Agent, I pulled the trigger on the AG300!

1122677 2010-07-26 23:44:00 It is a Linksys so it shouldn't be too bad Agent_24 (57)

I tried the AG300 for VoIP after PBTech were out of the AM300 back in the day. Never again... Personally wouldn't go near them with a 10-foot pole :( It overheated just as bad as the WAG160N's were, and VoIP over it was just a no-go ... Hope you have better luck :-/

1122679 2010-07-27 00:56:00 Chilly, which one overheaded?, the AG300 or AM300...this one doesn't have VoIP or Wireless, just vanilla model! SolMiester (139)
1122680 2010-07-27 06:52:00 Yeah the AG300 overheated. Had two of them, both did. Never again ...

The AM300 on the other hand, my personal fav, that or the Draytek DV120. Both great low-cost routers for half-bridging etc
