837739 2009-12-08 10:02:00 There's something weird that happens so often now that I'm curious. I've often placed things into my watchlist, things that are usually one-offs from casual sellers, ie he/she only has that one item for sale. But after the auction finishes and the final bid has met the reserve, the seller would offer the item to other watchers.

Like, recently I placed a used phone on my watchlist. Seller said he/she just upgraded to a new phone, so no need for the old one. It was $1R, somebody else won it, but then the seller offers it to watchers anyway! Why is that? It's happened so many times with items that are 'one-offs'.

837741 2009-12-08 10:29:00 But wouldn't that mean they'll have to deny the winner of the winning bid? qazwsxokmijn (102)
837742 2009-12-08 10:43:00 Don't think you get the option of offering it to other watchers if the reserve is met at the end of an auction.
Perhaps the winner has pulled out for some reason so the seller then gets that option??

837743 2009-12-08 10:47:00 If it was the winner that pulled out then it must happen very often. Plus the seller usually makes the offer on the same day the auction closes, often only hours after. qazwsxokmijn (102)
837744 2009-12-08 10:49:00 Unless something has changed on TradeMe recently as I haven't used for a few months.
TradeMe would get a higher successs fee if the seller was able to offer it to other watchers and get a higher offer...

837747 2009-12-08 12:09:00 Sounds to me like idiots who just want someone to accept the offer and then tell the winner to get stuffed Agent_24 (57)

That's what I thought as well, but it happens so often!
