| 1124362 | 2010-08-03 14:05:00 | Recieved it today. I'm not an Apple fan by any stretch of the imagination, but this thing is impressive: 1U form factor dual quad core Xeon 2.5Ghz 3 x 2TB hard drives with HW RAID 5 1 X 120GB SSD (for OSX Server snow leapard) 12GB Ram Dual GB NIC I'm not 100% sure but I think it cost around $12k Interestingly we recently got a windows server for around the same price and the specs are lower? 2U form factor 5 x 250GB disk HW RAID 5 (Also runs Windows Server 2008 + 2 VMs with Hyper-V) Dual dual core Xeon 2.5Ghz 12GB Ram Dual GB Nic Whats up with that? |

| 1124364 | 2010-08-03 20:40:00 | What iteration Xeon was in your Windows box? 12k sounds quite expensive for what you describe. | somebody (208) | ||
| 1124365 | 2010-08-03 20:44:00 | dual quad core Xeon 2.5Ghz 3 x 2TB hard drives with HW RAID 5 1 X 120GB SSD (for OSX Server snow leapard) 12GB Ram Dual GB NIC I'm not 100% sure but I think it cost around $12k ? That's a server? Doesn't look terrifcally different from JJJJJ's latest gaming PC. Except a slight diff in CPU, but I think I'd rather have JJJJJ's. |

I agree, that's hardly something to talk about... We use HP G6 servers with 4 x Quad Core Xeon's, 32GB RAM. HDD to spec plus SAN storage. The G6 range is pretty slick! |

| 1124367 | 2010-08-03 22:49:00 | G7 is out now (or very soon) 1 SSD, so not redundancy for the OS....ok then. |

Does the Apple server has SATA disks?, bet the Windows is running SAS drives, a lot more expensive! Probably only $200 in it between the CPU's depending which ones! |

The G6 range is pretty slick! wow, there is some cpu power, I have the G5's with 2 x QC Xeons and 24Gb RAM but quad Nics and P800 with Full DAS tray of 2.5 inch SAS drives.... |

| 1124370 | 2010-08-04 04:46:00 | Someone just mentioned the new server was between 20 and 30k or something, I'm a bit shocked TBH. I'm guessing the hard drives are SAS on both. TBH no redundancy on the OS is not surprising for an Apple server, and software RAID won't work on the OS partition either which is fking stupid (Windows supports it) |

| 1124371 | 2010-08-04 04:47:00 | And a second look at the system info shows that these Xeons are only 2.26Ghz... talk about meh | Deimos (5715) | ||
