840109 2009-12-16 04:05:00 Seems they changed the wording a little
If the offending continued after three notices, the right holder could seek a penalty of up to $15,000 at the Copyright Tribunal and if it continued, right holders could seek the suspension of accounts for up to six months

Though right holders would be able to seek suspension of accounts through the courts, Mr Power said he expected it would happen only in cases of serious offending.

"I want to stress that account holders will have the opportunity during each of these processes to defend claims by right holders," he said.

Account holders will be able to issue counter notices, and can request a hearing if they feel they should not be penalised, he said. The way I Read that as if someone is accused and the said person IS downloading illegal content then it has to be proven - if the said person can prove its not illegal - no problems.

Just downloaded a couple of albums last night - both from Digirama - so I can prove its been paid for.

840110 2009-12-16 04:07:00 It's never gone away :). Now with "free trade" deals with the US in the offing, we will see NZ lose yet more sovereignty, as was hinted at between the lines on a RNZ item on Morning Report this morning, mentioning "intelectual property", meaning US copyright law control over New Zealand, as we become the 51st ? state. 840111 2009-12-16 04:38:00 Still not sure how that'll work for Companies / Uni's etc? Chilling_Silence (9)
840112 2009-12-16 05:16:00 Still not sure how that'll work for Companies / Uni's etc? Theres plenty of programs about that will block P2P and other filesharing programs, including torrents.

I would suspect that if some company gets a "warning" the IT people in the company would have to do something about it.

Theres also plenty of software about that also monitors interent access, /logs etc, if the places are running servers (as they more than likely will be) the IT people (or some anyway) might have to earn there $$ :p
