2009-12-15 20:52:00 | oil consumption. Any one got this problem of excessive oil usage. Is your VW garage doing much about it. Here in Nelson we are not happy with the result we are getting. Ideas please. Lovely car to drive though. ken | kountryken (14110) | |
2009-12-15 21:03:00 | I have a 2001 Audi like the VW. Same factory I think. I needed to add oil after I did 8,000kms. Within the 6 months.

2009-12-15 22:57:00 | yes it does have an Audi engine in it. had it since march 2007 new. first 12 months oil light came on. 18 month no oil on dip stick so garage checked oil switch and other technicle things, and today i go back to them for more oil as empty on stick again. It has been serviced every year on time too. Total Km travelled is 26,000km. Too excessive for my liking anyway. But I'm wondering where we stand with VW actually renewing the motor within our 3 year warranty. | kountryken (14110) | |

Engine shouldn't use a sherek of oil between changes around 10 000 kilometres. Plus you might have done some damage to the big end bearings when the light come on. Dont let a smart arse mechanic talk you living with Kraut engine burning oil. I have Hino bus engines (mega hi ks as well) that dont use a thimble full of oil between changes at 15,000 k. |

2009-12-16 09:35:00 | Also find out what brand & spec of oil's in it. Cheap low spec oils tend to burn away & can do so without visible signs ie. smoke | Phil B (648) | |
