839728 2009-12-14 21:31:00 Hey ya all

Just wanna ask for some quick comments and thoughts on this little situation Im facing .

Story is that I brought a cell phone from parallel imported some months ago, crapped out on me so I took it in for warranty repairs . Its been over 3 weeks now, I havent gotten a single call or update from the service center or parallel imported to date .

Warranty docu states that the phone will take approx 10-12 working days .

I contacted parallel after 12 working days, the staff told me to wait, maybe it'll come real soon . 2 days later I called again, staff said their manager will email the service center for updates, 2 days later I called again, staff said they will try to hunt down the details and get back to me, which surprisingly he did but got no results . And today when I called again, I was told that they will get the service center to contact me . In regards to the service center, I have contacted them twice so far via email, no reply to date, some one forbids them to have a contact number . . . . And yes I have checked my junk mail folder . . .

So yeah . . . thoughts? comments?

839729 2009-12-14 21:53:00 Sigh . I don't understand how Parallel Imported are still in business . Oh, that's right - greedy people going for the apparent bargain (I was one of those people once - never again) .

There is no such thing as a bargain at Parallel Imported .

Their service levels are crap .

I can't tell where you live, but I suggest either going to the shop (when it's busy would be best) and making a real LOUD fuss, demanding action and/or your money back, or going to the service centre (if you know where it is - I suspect they are unmarked buildings so no-one can find them) and camping on their doorstep, ringing their bell, tying up their front desk person and generally making a nuisance of yourself . . .

When (if) you get satisfaction, vow to yourself to never return (and make the same recommendation to everyone you meet) .

Hahaha, I cant say how much I totally agree with you there

Though I must admit, this isnt the first time I was served with their dodgy service...a lesson well learnt...

Ditto. Plus there stuff isn't actually any cheaper, you can get just as good a deals in other stores or online if you shop around, and receive a proper NZ warranty.

They do however have to abide by the fair trading act, and CGA so they may need reminding of their obligations. A 3 week wait would be at the longer end of a reasonable period of time you should be expected to wait.

839734 2009-12-15 02:07:00 I reckon it's a fair bet that the phone is not even in NZ. I am pretty sure that they ship the faulty stuff overseas for repair. Their pricing model doesn't allow for maintaining a service centre here, and the local agents won't honour their warranties because they don't make anything from PI's sales.

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Cheers

Hmm, now that you mentioned it, I can see why they only use emails as the source of contact .

So what can I do now, can I demand the phone to be returned? And fix it at their expense? I know that the CGA allows that . . . .

3 weeks is relatively long, but it does say it may take approx 10-12 working days . . . so expected delays may be expected but . . . what annoys me the most is that they dont even know whats up with my phone . At the moment I dont think they can get in touch with the service center as well . . . . Do I just have to wait and wait and wait??

839736 2009-12-15 07:02:00 I bought a digicam from them still works. A 3MP point and shoot.

I don't find them that cheap, they are better ones that is better service and cheaper. Or I just get when I am overseas and come back to NZ without a warranty. It is cheaper and I just take a bet. If I wanted to save money I can get a used device for even less money.
