2009-12-16 08:51:00 | I've just got the Free Linux version, tried it out on an Intel Atom system with this NetComm NP1020 as the 2nd LAN: pbtech.co.nz Put it in as Anti-spam for a Server 2008 box, was sick of fluffing around trying to get the other IMF working with no success. This *just worked*, popped it in-line and that was it, it was away laughing. No configuration needed (Though I think I changed SMTP to Mark instead by default, just while we test out its accuracy), and for the last 36 hours it's been freakin awesome!! So I then installed Anti-Spyware, Anti-Virus, Anti-Phishing, and the business I set it up for will be moving it so it's in front of their whole network instead of just in front of the internal Exchange server :) Seriously impressed! Keen as mustard to try out the QoS on it now too :)

2009-12-16 10:05:00 | Honestly i don't really see how they have improved the situation over what was opposed, other than perhaps you'd have a chance to defend yourself now. But there is pay-back torrentfreak.com

2009-12-16 10:10:00 | Bunch of hypocrites And as for that stupid argument "Piracy is a lost sale" well that's lies. I have gone and bought stuff after I pirated it because I found out how good the artist was. In that case, the piracy actually made a sale! Secondly, a lot of things that people pirate, they wouldn't have bought. So if they hadn't have pirated it, they still wouldn't have paid for it anyway.

I have gone and bought stuff after I pirated it because I found out how good the artist was . In that case, the piracy actually made a sale! Secondly, a lot of things that people pirate, they wouldn't have bought . So if they hadn't have pirated it, they still wouldn't have paid for it anyway . It has been demonstrated that people who download music buy more music than those who don't . The record industry is trying to shoot itself in the foot . They will of course miss their own foot and chop off some poor grannies arm, or more likely internet access . This is an idiotic law with idiotic consequences for those who get caught up in it, and it is easily circumvented . Oh and my ISP rang me tonight (no kidding) and asked would I like to go to a plan with more bandwidth as I was file sharing a lot and 20 gigs a month didn't seem enough . No mention of cutting me off although clearly they'll be an accomplice!! |

2009-12-16 19:00:00 | Just remember one thing -- its still only a proposal The Government today released its proposed replacement for the replacement for the controversial section 92A of the Copyright Act 1994. Like last time it may still not happen - if it does - AND if the ISP's are forced to do something or face huge fines, then they will.

2009-12-17 01:54:00 | Hi folks, it's Matt Holloway from the Creative Freedom Foundation here... It's an improvement on the previous MED proposal by way of moving termination to the courts (the tribunal aren't allowed) and limiting fines, although that termination is still there and there are no penalties for false of malicious accusations will be an issue. I think the 15k limit on the Copyright Tribunal is based on the similar maximums of the Disputes Tribunal. We've got a press release and a bit of a review here, creativefreedom.org.nz creativefreedom.org.nz I like this quote from Bronwyn, the internet is nothing more than the most efficient copying machine the world has ever known, surpassing earlier industrial copying machines which produced wax cylinders, paper piano rolls, vinyl records, and plastic compact discs. Our society has moved forward from regulating an industrial manufacturing process to trying to regulate what people do in the privacy of their own homes on personal computers. The public relations aspect to modern copyright law and maintaining public respect for artistic rights is crucial to encouraging the arts, and this proposal goes a long way toward that.
