1124034 2010-08-02 13:02:00 Hi,
Is there anyone in Christchurch who has an EEPROM programmer that could write BIOS onto my Abit AX78 CMOS chip? I tried flashing the BIOS a while ago, and it crashed, so now I have a brick.

You would need to tell me the model number of your EEPROM so I can check if it's possible, and you'd have to remove and post the EEPROM to me since I'm in Auckland.

1124036 2010-08-02 22:36:00 I'm sure I could manage that, but which number is the model number? sammo450 (13626)
1124037 2010-08-03 00:44:00 If you don't know, just write down everything that's written on the chip. Agent_24 (57)
1124038 2010-08-03 08:46:00 Written on the chip is:
MX6080714
25L8005PC-15G
2X720100

Will this work with your programmer?

1124039 2010-08-04 01:30:00 Your chip is a 25L8005 from Macronix, and apparently supported by my programmer.

However, they don't provide a socket to insert the EEPROM directly (only provide a pin header) so it looks like I will need to make an adapter first.

If you don't mind waiting a couple of days or so while I get that worked out it should indeed be possible to re-program it for you.
