1123691 2010-08-01 09:19:00 Hi. I have a new computer running windows 7 64bit. I have a 500GB hard drive partitioned with a 200GB partition for program files and the 300GB for documents etc. I also have two x 1TB Sata 3 drives - one for photos and the other for other media.
I am wanting to add another internal 500GB and two more 1TB drives to back up the other drives. Is there back up software that will allow me to do this? In my ignorance I can't figure out if the available back up software will do what I want.

1123692 2010-08-01 10:08:00 Backups or Images?
Backups are best put onto external drives - you just back up your personal files.

Images - like a photocopy of the partition or drive - Acronis, Paragon do this type of software. best to boot off the CD and run it rather than from within WIndows.

1123693 2010-08-01 10:28:00 Windows 7 has its own back up software.

Click start, type in backup, select backup and restore - Follow instructions through.

1123694 2010-08-01 11:22:00 Add to above post --- Have a read of This thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) - this software Does work. Some of the other imaging software, while it appears to work, actually fails when its required. wainuitech (129)
1123695 2010-08-01 19:54:00 Second what Wainui says read that thread I had an epic image fail last week Paragon backup 10.2 free wreaked havoc on my C drive. The software mentioned in that thread is working well I created an image yesterday and reinstalled it last night to test it and all good gary67 (56)
1123696 2010-08-01 21:42:00 Hmm, I have whatever version of Paragon (before 10) and used it happily with WIn7. pctek (84)
1123697 2010-08-02 00:47:00 Does the built in windows 7 backup let you restore individual files or does it only restore everything in the backup? utopian201 (6245)
1123698 2010-08-02 03:20:00 Does the built in windows 7 backup let you restore individual files or does it only restore everything in the backup? Yep -- have a read (windows.microsoft.com) #3 wainuitech (129)
1123699 2010-08-02 03:40:00 I am very happy with Macrium Reflect. The free version is good for most people. Images, schedules, restore individual files etc). My C: takes 9 min to image.

1123700 2010-08-04 01:51:00 Win 7 backup allows incremental backups on schedule too. Have a read here for full instructions on how to do it.
