1123562 2010-07-31 06:44:00 I'm using windows 7 & IE8. For the last few days, whenever I click on a button (eg a "login") or (especially) a picture on a web page to up-load a bigger version, I get message "error on page" in bottom left corner and no result.
If I hover cursor over the pic before clicking, it says "javascript:;"
I've mucked about with security settings, firewalls etc for two days now with no joy -or effect- at all.
I dunno what started this, but does anyone know how to cure it, please?

1123563 2010-07-31 06:54:00 Think it might be a internet problem. I'm having problems with a UK site right now and get a Java Script message along the bottom saying something and true or false at the end of error message. Then it loses connection with the site. Using IE8 Windows 7. Might try FF. Using FF and trying to get this UK site I get the connection was reset message.
:)

most popup larger images are javascript powered

a link to a site you are having issues on would be good, so we can tell if its the site, the browser or your setup causing the problem

Do you have javascript turned on?

what are your security levels set at

Have you tried a different browser, browsers have different js engines and they don't all work the same

and have you tried running IE in compatibility mode

Have you tried restoring the Internet Explorer settings to the default?

Internet Options > Advanced tab, at the bottom of the Windows, there is an option to do so.

1123568 2010-08-01 22:32:00 What version of Java do you have. Go to control panel/Programs and features and see what version you have. I have Java (TM)6 Update 18 and that page works for me.

1123569 2010-08-01 22:50:00 I've tried it with both IE and FF. No problems, clicking the pic gives a larger popup box.

Update Javascript and make sure popups aren't disabled.

Java is nothing whatsoever to do with javascript they are utterly completely different things, its just an unfortunate similarity in the names that confuses people.

Javascript functionality cannot be upgraded as the javascript engine thjat provides this is part of the browser

Having said that original postie person

Is your ie8 blocking pop-ups? not sure how to check that as I don't use IE
(tools -> pop-up blocker)
although I did test your page in it and it worked fine

to see if javascript is working go here
scrapbookoutletnz.co.nz
and hover(don't click) over a product image and a pop-up will appear

said that wrong didn't I,

basically the only way to upgrade javascript handling on your computer is to upgrade your browser, the way your browser handles javascript is determined by the browsers built in javascript engine, the fact the pop-up are working for other people suggest the fault is not with IE8s javascript handling, but more the way the browser is set up

also the dropdown boxes on pressf1 are javascript powered so try clicking on Quick Links
