1124857 2010-08-05 10:10:00 Recently I scrubbed my hard drive to get rid of all the data.
I now have the problem of the hard disk not being found when trying to reload a new operating system.
Help me please.

1124858 2010-08-05 10:43:00 Scrubbed as how? nedkelly (9059)
1124859 2010-08-05 10:56:00 Sounds like the hdd is SATA, and AHCI is enabled in the BIOS. If this is the case, and you want to use AHCI, you need the SATA drivers, and these need to be added before you install windows Speedy Gonzales (78)
1124860 2010-08-06 08:17:00 Hi, Yes it is SATA, and was scrubbed with System Mechanic. After this it seems "US".
I have looked for the Hitachi drivers without success. If I can down load these to a disc and load first before running windows.
Would this be correct??
Thanks

1124861 2010-08-06 08:22:00 The normal course of events is to ensure the hard drive shows up in the BIOS.

Then install Windows.

Then install motherboard chipset drivers.

1124862 2010-08-06 08:50:00 Ok Thanks a lot. I'll give it a shot and see if it picks it up. deemac (14564)
1124863 2010-08-06 09:33:00 You can still have problems installing Windows on a hard drive which shows up in the BIOS however.

Did this drive contain Windows any version before it was "scrubbed"?

1124864 2010-08-06 09:44:00 Well you'll need the windows cd depending on the version of windows. If its XP, you'll have to find out what the brand/model of the motherboard is, then get the drivers including the SATA. Then put the SATA drivers on a floppy or USB flash drive (thats if the system supports one) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1124865 2010-08-07 01:50:00 Yes, It had XP SP2. When trying to reload I got the message "no hard disc found"
The Motherboard is an Asrock M266A P4
The hard drive is a Hitachi 82.5Gb Deskstar SATA

1124866 2010-08-07 01:58:00 Yes that will be because you need to load the drivers for your SATA controller. (You will need a floppy disk drive)

You also need to find out which drivers you need.

If your PC is brand name such as Dell\HP\IBM what is the PC model number?
If your PC is custom build, what is the model of your Motherboard?
