1124777 2010-08-05 04:26:00 Hi there guys,

Mum's monitor broke down, so I gave mine to her (the one in my sig) and now I am in need of a new monitor .

I quite like the one I had, it does everything I need it to do (gaming, movies) and it just stands there looking elegant, picture quality is nice too . so I would probably stick to Samsung again, but I am open to suggestions .

I would like it to be full HD capable (1920x1080) . 3D ready is not a must, as I have ATI cards . I would also like it to be at least the same size as 23'' if not bigger .

My other question is should I buy a TV of similar size instead? is it cheaper that way?? Because price is also a concern . . . . but I am willing to pay if it is good value if you guys know what i mean .

At university they uses Samsung SyncMaster 2693hM and it looks really good, what do you guys think of that one? any comments??

any suggestions, any comments will be greatly appreciated

Cheers

1124779 2010-08-05 04:37:00 Personally I wouldn't go buying a TV to use as a desktop monitor.

While they do run a PC OK, they dont have the same resolutions and you will get a far better picture from a Desktop LCD.

1124781 2010-08-05 05:46:00 You'd need to get a proper 1080p one, but having tried this myself I can tell you it isn't ideal.

Samsung, viewsonic, LG, asus, they are ok.

1124782 2010-08-05 09:30:00 Check out Viewsonic VX2433wm 24" LCD. Been using it for 12 months without problem. Has HDMI etc. There may be newer models by now. Check it out at elive (http://www.elive.co.nz/) or one of the other online vendors.

I use mine for graphics and web design. Remarkably good for the price.

I am also thinking about buying 3 smaller and cheaper monitors and combine them...using the eye infinity technology my ATI cards provide...do you guys think that is practical at all???
