| 1124581 | 2010-08-04 05:46:00 | Hello I've been able to use steam for at least a week recently without many major problems but just recently it fails to log into the server to actually be able to use anything on Steam at all. It seems to require trying to log in at least 5 times before you actually get in. Any suggestions? And on a side note downloads have been quite slow for updates on Steam when watching a video is fast at similar times, the ping when I play TF2 is also slow enough that I get kicked for excessive ping occasionally, any suggestions on that? Thanks Civic |

| 1124586 | 2010-08-04 06:47:00 | How would you do that? I've already reinstalled Steam which I now know deletes the games and requires the updates to be done again (8GB updates) And that seems to have no effect. |

Dude, you should copy or move the folder containing your SteamAps before you uninstall. Then once reinstalled you log off, replace the new (empty) SteamAps folder with your backup copy, and presto, your 8GB of games are back without any downloading. |

| 1124589 | 2010-08-04 11:41:00 | Ok thanks for that, its going fine at the moment so will have to wait for it to go bad again to test the blob file, I reinstalled Steam again using your way Paul.Cov and it worked so I'll keep that in mind for later on. Got a new problem now that the 8GB update of TF2 is complete, it seems that whenever I try to load anything from the main menu, multi player or not, training or with others it crashes right at the end of the loading sequence, with the not responding screen that we all see so much in Windows. So the reinstall didn't fix this and I have the video settings lower then what is recommended for my computer. |
