840301 2009-12-16 19:56:00 Any suggestions on how to download a Discovery Channel video like: watch.discoverychannel.ca – and save as an AVI or other media file?
Would even pay for an application!
Many thanks

840302 2009-12-16 20:08:00 On that Yike Bike you are sitting rather prone. Not much frontal protection if you stop in a hurry or crash into something head on ouch. You could try some of these www.google.co.nz FLV downloaders, one might work. You can convert to AVI after you have downloaded it.

840303 2009-12-16 22:17:00 Sorry cannot find anything there that appears to download Discovery Channel – any other suggestions?!
BTW – Undignified, complicated, inefficient, expensive and distasteful - these criticisms are about the what we now call a normal bicycle on its introduction in 1885. Check out www.yikebike.com

840304 2009-12-16 22:24:00 Do you subscribe to Sky? :(

Get a TV Capture card in your PC, connect PC to TV and record then burn to DVD :(

Or are you wanting to do this on the "cheap"?

I have downloaded Discovery Channel vids from it in the past.

840306 2009-12-16 23:22:00 I use LiteCam for those videos which cannot be downloaded ( or seem to be impossible to download ) as a file.
www.innoheim.com

It can capture any video on your screen in real time and save as an avi file, bit rate and quality can be selected.

The trial version is fully functional but puts a logo right in the middle of the screen, the pay for version is excellent, and not too expensive.

Edit: I suppose buffering pauses could be a pain, but so far it hasn't happened to me.

A lot of stuff on Discovery NA is not ever shown on Discovery AU. Discovery AU is a mishmash of what is shown in the US where Discovery has more channels and content we never see here..

840308 2009-12-16 23:49:00 Thanks guys – tried Miro – no go and liteCam but not compatible with 64bit!
liteCam looked good too – will grab Flash clips.
And yep Sky NZ no use – this so far has only screened in North America!
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

840310 2009-12-17 01:56:00 I use a plugin for Firefox that activates everytime there's downloadable content on a page.

Then if you want it you just click on the icon and choose the file to download. Simple and easy. No watermarks IIRC. Will check out what it's called when I get home tonight.
