| 840951 | 2009-12-22 17:52:00 | Well from my perspective Alcohol, drugs and religion all have something in common they take what would be normal civilised people and turn them into we are better than you because we do this shi&. I don't say all religion is bad it does teach good morals but in some interpretations and it is man's interpretation the "believe in my God or I'll kill you" mentality is so deeply ingrained as to be as scary as peolpe taking P. I prefer the old style Norse myths of many Gods all having lives and doing stuff like fighting each other, seem much more fun. In Norse mythology the Gods don't give out rules that we have to live by, we are here on earth as their entertainment, so if we hang a couple of witches for murder they are amused. Seriously Chris until you have seen the luxury prisoners live in and how prison is no deterrent then take my advice and keep quite. P.S I think Rob is going to Valhalla |

They wishes get to law Have you noticed how this mythical PC brigade are said to have the power in this country, when all we hear on the radio and talkback is the Socialist Sentencing Trust spouting bile about sentencing that doesn't remotely stack up with any evidence. The PC brigade is just anyone who doesn't agree with the SST, even though they are a pack of do-gooders who pretty much define what politically correct is, you have share their views basically or you are with the bad guys. So we've been on this get tough crusade for a few years now and the sentences are increasing and so is the crime. Doesn't it occur to the get tough brigade that the approach isn't working, will never work and even Garth McMinto acknowledges that the death penalty isn't a deterrent, but somehow thinks long prison sentences are better than the death penalty at preventing crime. His view is illogical but then as long as he can spend your money on his campaign then he thinks everything will be alright whilst in fact he is making the country an unsafer place to live. |

Now I remember reading a study that today we are safer than any time in history, you were certainly more likely to meet your death by violence in the 40's than you are today for example . So I reckon my generation did a pretty bang up job, it's just these young people who are stuffing it up . Please note this is what every generation of old folks says about the young, and you're saying what every generation of young people says about the old . It was always better in the past to the likes of the SST, they quickly forget about things like of World War Two when they think the world going down hill . |
