841694 2009-12-21 02:10:00 Sigh.............. thats the problem i cant afford to keep 2 on the road, and the demio is cheaper to run and is currently registered etc, but the jeep isnt registered at moment, and is sitting in the shed doing nothing......

so im stuck ........... if i sell the demio ............and not the jeep, guilt is horrible........:(
its that problem of stuck between a rock and a hard place.......

its just not an option to keep both, as i am the only one who can drive in my house and i cant drive 2 at once........

841695 2009-12-21 02:20:00 I would keep the Jeep myself but that is only my unprofessional opinion.

If you insist on getting rid of both for one new one.

I would favour the Rav4 5 door. The latest versions are nice to drive.

Jeep have a couple of nice 4x4's available in various sizing.

Honda CRV would be probably my next option in the mid range 4x4 class.

841696 2009-12-21 02:20:00 Keep the Mazda2 because they are frugal as, when next round of gas prices hit us you will laughing all the way to the bank. prefect (6291)
841697 2009-12-21 02:52:00 I personally don't care for Mazdas as I find they require more transmission repairs than most other Japanese makes . I worked on these for years and it seems out of the four or so Japanese manufactures, the Mazdas appeared more often in the shop than Toyotas or Hondas .

Still - you OWN the Jeep and as much as I am a GM fan, those Jeeps are pretty sturdy and you won't get 4wd in much else without a lot of $$ .

If that Jeep has a 4 . 0 Liter engine, all the better as they are really tough and resilient . The automatic transmission is OK if you keep it serviced with fresh fluid after each hot season . It's a hybrid from Chrysler-Fiat and it can be rather expensive to rebuild - but the really expensive part is that Fiat torque converter - the rest of the unit is a bread-n-butter MoPaR A604 or an A727 .

New cars are fraught with all sorts of hidden costs and human fears .

Parking lot "first" scratch
Higher insurance on new vehicle
Higher taxes on newer vehicles
Higher registration fees on newer vehicles (in the US it's that way)
Some "short-run" new vehicles are sold and let you drive-test them for the factory - not a good aspect for me in new car evaluations either .
I'd be hard pressed to get rid of a good-running-yet-slightly-used Jeep . You don't fear tossing bricks, boards and dirt into it as it's no longer virginal .

Utility in that Jeep is much better than having a rolling Mazda lunchbox that cannot suffice for most of your hauling needs - even if it uses more gas .

Sell the midget car to someone who thinks they'll get great mileage out of it and use that cash to help feed the Jeep . The market is HOT HOT HOT for cheap cars that get 1,000 miles per gallon .

Take advantage of that sales situation and sell to the highest bidder or survivor when you post the advertisement and let them duke it out on your front lawn .

The latest Jeeps aren't the Jeep your father knew - just in case you're thinking about buying a NEW one . I wouldn't .

841698 2009-12-21 02:59:00 All quite pointless unless you have a real budget to work to, whats the Jeep and the other car worth?

Is that your entire sum for the new wagon?

841699 2009-12-21 03:21:00 The Demio is based on the Mazda 2 which got AA car of the year last year so who do we believe a yank from the same country that invaded Iraq or a collection of motoring experts? prefect (6291)
841700 2009-12-21 03:22:00 Mazda MPV. Great cars. From what you're described it sounds ideal too - 4wd, safe, quick enough but nothing stupid, plenty of space for kids as well as other stuff. They do go through quite a bit of gas around town, but would be nowhere as bad as a jeep.

IMO the MPVs are better equipped than similarly priced Previas/Estimas and way more space than an odyssey.

The post 2003 Previas with 4wd and the 3 litre engine are very nice too, quite a large vehicle.

Seriously, I will slap you!
