841500 2009-12-20 18:51:00 It's just a rumour.

If they did, I'd be using Gigabyte though.

841501 2009-12-20 19:52:00 Crazy if they did go with ECS johcar (6283)
841502 2009-12-20 21:03:00 ESC is part of the Hengseng Technology group, which is by far the largest Mobo manufacture in the world (most people think its Asus then Gigabyte).

The worst model of board I can ever recall was a Asus, with hundreds of returns something like 80% failure and they got pulled, that was a one off however. ECS failure rate is no no worse than Asus. I would never use one myself simply because they are usually a low performing boards. However if they are only "manufacturing" for Asus to Asus specs, I cant see a problem myself.

Asus already re-badge a lot of products and have for years.

I guess some news sites will write any sort of rumour or gossip for a story.

841504 2009-12-20 21:47:00 IMO Gigabyte is just as good as Asus - if this is true the it's bye Asus hi Gigabyte...I wonder (if this is true) if ECS would make Asus notebook motherboards too? That would be bad. :( wratterus (105)

We like quality not quantity.

And oh yes it is.

841506 2009-12-20 22:13:00 I don't doubt they could make the boards exactly how Asus wants them, and use much better quality designs and components than their own boards - it's just that associating your name with someone else who has a bad reputation seems a bit strange for Asus who have such a good reputation

We all know Charlie likes to hype things up but there is usually some truth in the articles he writes

That all said, I don't really care. I'm sticking with MSI as I always have.

Yes, you are right, perhaps a 2nd voice is whats required as I have been shot down everytime I comment about ECS...They are popular as budget enthusiast in the states.

Cheers, well I have literally sold 10's of thousands as a wholesaler a way back and the failure rate was as good as Asus or Gigabyte which we also sold, so I can be very confident in my claims.

ECS are decent quality and cheap, but usually lower performing mobo's for the mainstream. They manufacture for a number of "name brand" PC's including IBM.

Foxconn manufacture a lot of Asus Video cards, and they dont exactly have the greatest name, but they are mostly to reference spec so its not a issue.

Its not like Asus are manufacture in West Germany, they are all Asian factories lol.
